Insurance Benefits
Negligence claims against Beauty Salons and Nail Technicians are rising 
dramatically in a very litigious society. Even if you feel that you have not been at fault or done anything wrong a client can still make a claim against you. Insurance is vital to protect you when claims are made against you.
Full membership of The Guild of Beauty Therapists automatically provides insurance cover for Treatment, Public and Products Liability with an indemnity limit of £2,000,000 any one claim. Please note Associate and Overseas Members are not covered by the Membership Insurance cover.
Only Full Guild Members, Specific Skills and Student Members are covered by the Guild's group insurance policy. Membership and insurance cover is on an individual basis and does not cover employees or work experience students, unless they too are Full, Specific Skills or Student Members of The Guild Of Beauty Therapists. You MUST ensure that you are aware of any warranty relating to certain treatments that are stated in the Warranties Section of this Policy.
Full Guild Membership Insurance covers you to work anywhere in the UK either as a mobile therapist, working from home or whilst working in a salon or renting a room.
Student membership insurance cover stipulates that students require the direct supervision of a Full Guild member when carrying out treatments on any member of the public. Students are covered to carry out case studies for the following treatments only: Aromatherapy, Crystal Therapy, Reflexology, Indian Head Massage, Body Massage, Camouflage Make-up , Make-up, Manual Facials, Manicure and Pedicure (excluding the cutting of cuticles), Nail Extensions (Acrylics, Gel, Silk and Fibreglass), Baby Massage, Threading.
For all treatments requiring insurance cover, you must hold and have agreed the appropriate qualifications for those treatments that you practice. We do require photocopies of qualification certificates sending in with your application and if further qualifications are achieved we will require photocopies to be sent into the office in order for your insurance records to be updated.
Extent of Cover
Cover applies anywhere in the UK, the Channel Islands and the Isle of Man whether you are working in a salon or on a mobile basis.The treatments that are included within the Insurance Policy are shown below. Cover will be in force for those treatments that a recognised qualification has been obtained.Cover is available for more advanced treatments but at additional costs and these are shown on the application form. Please also take note of the warranties that apply to certain treatments.
Refunds
If you change your mind after you have taken out the membership and insurance a full refund can only be given up to 14 days after acceptance by the association.
