Does the guild product indemnity include cover for therapists to customise creams to individual clients needs? e.g. adding ampoules of actives to base creams? What is the position on own branding? Thanks in advance for your help.

If the qualified therapist is using a specific skincare range that she has received a certificate of training in from the skincare company that supplies her and her training included the incorporation of ampoules into base products to enhance their effectiveness e.g adding an ampoule into a facial massage cream to help hydration, then this would be included in Guild membership insurance cover.
We can also offer cover to qualified aromatherapists to blend aromatherapy oils into base oils to sell to existing clients and also the blending of essential oils into products that have been purchased from a supplier e.g. skincare, bodycare, shampoo to sell to the general public.
We cannot offer insurance cover to therapists who wish to produce their own brand of skincare products from scratch and sell them onto the general public.

Hi Lynne,
Thanks for your reply. I think I need to clarify my question. What I was thinking of specifically was not making skincare products from scratch but buying in certified products from an existing skincare company who would be willing to allow me to use my own name as branding. I wondered in this case who was liable for any problems arising due to allergies etc., me as the therapist / brand or the manufacturer(who are FDA certified).

Another option would be to use a base cream from a skincare supplier and their ampoules of actives, much like a mask, but each client would be recommended their own combination depending on their skin and then one ampoule would be mixed with the suitable base cream and sold.

I already mix aromatherapy oils for clients and thought this might be similar?

thanks again for your time.
